Ten days until the expedition starts! I am planning on launching on January 1 from West Beach on Orcas Island. If the weather forecast holds I should be able to check in with Canadian Customs near Sidney, BC on the second day. From there, it is off around Vancouver Island.
Some small things still need to be done but overall I am ready to head out. I hope to spend most of the next ten days going on a couple more training paddles, enjoying some good meals, going to a movie, and having a quiet Christmas before departing.
I am excited to finally get going. I have thought through so many details for months now, going over everything from what boat to use down to how much toilet paper to bring. At this point I just have to trust that I am ready and get on the water.
If you are in the area you can come and see me off. I will be at the Body Boat Blade shop on Prune Alley in Eastsound between 9:30 and 10:00am on January 1st. We’ll have some hot coffee and then head to the beach.
